Hopkins, Allen Annie & Al On the Erie Canal History,

Storyteller Fran Carlisi-Paxson joins Allen Hopkins to re-enact Erie Canal days. Fran plays "Annie," a canal boat cook, while Allen is an itinerant 19th-cehtury musician. Fran recounts several "tall tales" from the canal tradition, while Allen sings songs collected from NY State sources, pertaining to the history and social life of the canal. Program is given in period costume, using antique instruments, and features dialog and byplay that outline some of the lesser-known historical facts of the canal era. The program takes a humorous perspective on many facets of 19th-century Erie Canal life. This program has been presented at Spencerport Canal Days, Livingston County Historical Museum, Greece Historical Society, and elsewhere.

Blackmail at Baker Street features the telling of The Adventure of Charles Augustus Milverton, the riveting story of the “king of all the blackmailers”, robbery, and a life at risk of ruin! Like elocutionists of earlier times, these storytellers adhere closely to the written word in their recitation and interpretation of literary works. Rachel and Rebecca provide an introduction to the story, and they entertain questions and comments afterwards.

Graham, Michael Jack and the Beanstalk Performing Arts- Puppetry
JACK AND THE BEANSTALK This popular classic features beautifully crafted hand and rod puppets, colorful scenic design, special effects and an original script in which Jack, with the help of a clever Chicken, saves the day! The Spring Valley Puppet Theater production of Jack and the Beanstalk holds many surprises in this new approach to this old favorite. Michael Graham's production of Jack and the Beanstalk was awarded in 1994 Citation of Excellence in the Art of Puppetry by UNIMA-USA, the American Center of the Union Internationale de la Marionette. The show runs 35-40 minutes. An informative and fascinating curtain-down question and answer period can follow school performances! A demonstration of some of the puppets follows public performances.

The One-Man Circus in-a-Suitcase gives everyone an opportunity to participate in an enthralling, whimsical celebration of the imagination. This show has been performed over 500 times around the globe, for family theater audiences and school assemblies alike. However, the most important performers emerge from the audience. He was so captivated by the idea of seeing the world from way up in the air, that he spoke about it constantly to all the other animals in the forest, wondering how he could accomplish his goal. Based on a Native American legend, this is a play about reaching beyond the every day and striving to do more, even when it seems to be impossible. Puppeteer Robert Rogers has applied all the imagination and skill that he has acquired over a 31 year career.
