Sing-alongs and Stories with Speedy Arnold Music,
Visual Arts- Drawing
Speedy has been playing music for North Country audiences for more than 30 years either solo or with the Bluegrass groups Mardi Gras, the Wolverine Brothers and Three Doug Knight. Performances involve playing guitar and singing fun songs to kids of all ages. Being a well rounded artist, he also has several sketchbooks filled with his original ink drawings of local scenes that he can bring with him to the venues for discussion before, during or after perfomances. In addition to his music, Speedy will also have signed copies of the children's books that he illustrated: The Little Brook in the Field, a frog story, and The Adventures of Molly the Monarch Butterfly. In addition, Speedy will discuss his newest book: What's an Elephant Doing in the AuSable River?(This book won the 2012 People's Choice Award at the Adirondack Center for Writing in Blue Mountain Lake.) His preference is to play acoustically(no sound reinforcement),so smaller groups work out real good; however,if a sound system(with 2 mics) is available and needed for a larger group,he can adapt. Speedy's favorite age groups are preschool to about 5th grade, and he generally will play from 45 minutes to 1 hr.
