Welcome to the world of horses! Children and adults alike are fascinated by these majestic creatures, and the experiences with them can be magical! Spending time around horses and ponies has been proven in many studies to be therapeutic on many levels both physically and emotionally. The bond can be quite powerful and healing, but where to start? It is important to know the nature of a horse, how to properly handle them on the ground as well as while riding. Proper care and feeding, tack fitting, and maintenance will be discussed as well. This is all taught out of the American Association for Horsemanship Safety manual by Jan Dawson. Katie, our real life miniature horse will be available to be pet, groomed, and for demonstration of safety techniques. This program is suitable for the 2017 summer reading program.

In this program, I will discuss my transition from being homeschooled from kindergarten to 12th grade to the more formal learning environment of college, as well as discussing my experience as a homeschooler, why I chose to attend college, benefits and downsides of college for homeschoolers, what I think homeschoolers should consider when making decisions regarding whether or not to attend college and choosing which colleges are a good fit, as well as why I believe that it is important for homeschoolers and people who have pursued alternatives to traditional education to share their story.

Exercises will be used to demonstrate welcoming and unwelcoming body language. The music and performing will add some excitement and levity to a very real and current issue. Children will love being on stage. Singing together is a very powerful uniting force! All music is original and fully orchestrated. Cue cards are used to help students sing along.

May be done any time of year, ice shavings can substitute for snow in summer.

This program allows participants to craft their own soap with a variety of molds and natural additions such as hibiscus flowers, jojoba, lavender, vanilla beans, the sky is the limit! This program is tailored to your library audience. For younger children can use a melt and pour soap, and older teens can watch a demonstration of the chemical reaction between lye and lipids. This fits nicely with Laura Ingalls Wilder's 'Little House' books, and some libraries use it as the finale to a story time featuring one to give patrons a real life experience. This program supports building a sustainable future, and is suitable for the 2017 summer reading program.
