| Sing A Story - Read A Song! |
Literature- Other, Music, Nature- Environment |
With programs specially designed for libraries, Nan incorporates songs that have been made into books (books that sing), songs made from books, songs based on folk tales and stories, and songs that celebrate reading. Within that framework she offers presentations that focus on several different themes such as reading (SING A STORY-READ A SONG!), folk music (MORE THAN A SONG!), history (SINGING OUR HISTORY), and nature and the environment (SONGS FOR A LIVABLE LAND). Using folk and acoustic music and a variety of songs and instruments, Nan offers presentations that are fun and informative, and encourages audience participation.

| DIG INTO READING@ YOUR LIBRARY! |
History, Music, Nature- Environment |
Using a variety of songs and instruments, and her collection of BOOKS THAT SING, Nan offers presentations for children and families that are fun and informative and invite audience participation. Suitable for the 2013 NYS SUMMER READING PROGRAM, her concerts can serve as kickoff or culmination events, or can be included at anytime to stimulate reading interest.
Music, particularly folk music with its emphasis on lyrics and stories, can help promote reading, writing, listening skills, and language development.
For libraries following this year's SRP theme, presentations will include songs that tie into several kinds of 'digging'. We can dig into reading as we dig into a garden, sowing seeds of learning that sprout new discoveries when cultivated at the library. We can also use books to dig into our past, learning about people and events that shaped our country.
