From a delicate tale of love celebrating the Cherry trees of Japan, to an old English song that speaks of the hidden language of flowers, to the poignant Cornish legend of One Tree Hill, we'll travel ‘round the world in story celebrating this garden of delights. Each tale is surrounded by music and songs from many lands. BJ and Company will custom design the right program for your needs. We have worked extensively with children and families and performed hundreds of shows. SUGGESTED PROGRAM … a fun introduction to the art of clowning. Barb will come and gradually change costume to become BJ the Clown. She will apply professional clown make up on three audience volunteers to show the three main clown types (whiteface, hobo, august), and have a fun discussion about the art of clowning. With its interactive play stage, Open Hand Theater engages children ages pre-K - 2nd grade in their own performance of the well-loved story, Hats for Sale. In our version each monkey is a vowel sound. With puppets and a stage, sounds and lots of fun with repetition, children participate in acting out the story.

The goal of this program is to provide a safe and supportive place for children to express themselves. Everyone, children and adults alike, are invited to participate as much or as little as they are comfortable with. This program can be tailored to fit the needs of the audience and the space available.

American history comes alive when Bill Gormont brings THE GREAT AMERICAN MAGIC SHOW to your library. This exciting show reinforces our nation's birth and history through entertaining situations filled with magic, illusion and fun. Bill highlights special people and important historical moments that include our first flag, the Declaration of Independence and much, much more. He introduces a modern day Betsy Ross (an audience volunteer) with a hilarious flag routine. Betsy would be proud to see Bill, the stage and accessories decked out in red, white and blue. Audience participation is always a large part of the show. Lucky spectators are invited to have fun on stage as they enjoy learning about our first U.S. Presidents in a magical sort of way. The grand finale is filled with surprise, action and colorful productions. What a wonderful way to close out a fun filled educational experience that celebrates the history of our great nation and stirs the patriotism in our hearts. THE GREAT AMERICAN MAGIC SHOW is suitable for presentation to all ages and is the perfect choice for national holiday celebrations like President’s Day, Memorial Day, Flag Day, 4th of July, Labor Day and Veteran’s Day.

Perfect for A Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program Theme 2019. Dig deep into a cave of the earth--the Sun has been captured by a Fearsome Dragon and hidden away. The HERO of our tale is Bawshou, a young man who courageously rises to the challenge of freeing the Sun. With the help of a golden phoenix, a small parcel of earth, a magic robe, and a heroic dream, Bawshou travels afar to seek out and rescue the Sun, for the good of his people and all the land. Children actively participate as they portray the flowing river, the sounds of the sea, the playing of the gong, the dancing stars, and much much more! The artists evoke a magical atmosphere in this important Chinese tale, employing authentic oriental techniques and traditions including stylized dramatic forms and movement, mythology, exotic costumes, and unusual musical sounds. Chinese folk instruments (erhu, p’i p’a, guzheng harp, sona, Chinese Theatre drum, flutes & whistles, and gong) are featured, combining to make this unforgettable performance piece a joyous celebration of oriental culture. 'Bawshou' was commissioned by the Springfield MA Museum of Fine Arts in 1994. (see accompanying Chinese Dragon Mask Workshop/Parade).
