Paul sings kids’ favorites accompanying himself on guitar and harmonica. The program is aimed at youngsters from pre-K through the lower grades. The younger set will enjoy songs like “Itsy Bitsy Spider” and “Wheels on the Bus” while slightly older listeners will appreciate colorful songs like “Over the Rainbow” and “Beyond the Sea”. Paul happily interacts with his young audiences and singing along is always welcomed! And a patriotic song or two are usually included for kids of all ages!

The Aussie Funk Jam is a totally interactive and hands-on musical experience. The didgeridoo has been played by Aboriginal Australians for at least 1500 years, and is known for its mesmerizing sound. Participants will learn how to play the “didge,” including animal sounds and simple rhythms, with our beginner instruments. The Aussie Funk Jam is cool, funk and unique – perfect for tweens & teens!

The Bromkas offer a memorable musical journey through the French Provinces! As traveling musicians who visit France each year to participate in regional music and dance festival, John and Sondra have a large repertoire of songs, instruments, and even lively circle and line dances that will be chosen to appeal to the age level and needs of your group. Rare and distinctive regional instruments in their collection include: Breton and Auvergnat bagpipes, hurdy gurdy, flutet et tambourin, more! There are also French songs especially for dancing. (Artists may present a concert of musical traditions, or a combination program of traditional dances, instruments, and songs. Other possibilities include participatory crepe-making activity, more!)

Ed Keegan of Rhythm Connect facilitates this interactive rhythmic adventure based on his popular book entitled, Drumming with Dexter: Drumming Through the Jungle, which he co-wrote with his 12 year old daughter, Rebekah. The book includes an extensive online parent-teacher guide with downloadable audio files, coloring pages, curriculum enhancements, and much more! In this lecture/concert, popular performer Dave Ruch (www.daveruch.com) presents a fascinating portrait of the War of 1812 through the songs and stories of the people themselves. Ruch has dug deeply into archival recordings, diaries, old newspapers and other historical manuscripts to unearth a wealth of rarely-heard music which, alongside some of the classics from the war, offers a rounded and fascinating picture of this “second war of independence.” Special emphasis is given to New York State’s important role in the conflict.

Get ready to rock with the Wizard of Books! This summer, magician Ron Cain invites young readers to help him form a wizard rock band. The 45-minute magic show highlights the 2018 New York state summer reading program theme, Libraries Rock! Appearing as the Wizard of Books, Ron uses magical, musical tricks to encourage children to read. Volunteers perform illusions with offbeat instruments he conjures. Youngsters also learn about literary and historical wizards, including Merlin, Morgan le Fay and Harry Potter. The Harry Potter universe has inspired its own musical genre called wizard rock. Since 2002, bands like Harry and the Potters and Draco and the Malfoys have performed songs about J.K. Rowling's wizarding books.

Minstrels don't take sides, so we sing and tell tales from both the Confederate and the Union side. Audience participates in singalongs to such tunes as: Dixie, When Johnny Comes Marching Home, Battle Hymn of the Republic, Camptown Races, Oh Susannah!, Buffalo Gals, Goober Peas and More! We also bring along a Confederate flag and a 36 start Union flag for our backdrops! 2 costumed minstrels PLUS 4 instruments PLUS beautiful harmonies EQUALS a good time with learning thrown in on top!
