Multicultural- Other,
Music
The lyrical music of Cuisle Mo Chroí (pronounced Cushla Ma Chree) evokes the heart of Celtic music. Combine the soothing tones of three part vocal harmony with the delicate arpeggios of the Irish harp, calming flow of breath through the wooden flute and penny whistle, and the steady pulse of the bodhrán (Irish drum) and guitar to make this trio of women, “Cuisle Mo Chroí” one of the premier folk groups in the Rochester NY area. Expect to hear songs (some in the Irish language) that evoke images of Ireland, Scotland, castles, immigration, romance, as well as songs your grandmother taught you on St. Patrick’s Day, and a few lively tunes - reels, jigs, planxties and polkas. All three women, Patricia Carey, Mary Lester, and Cathy McGrath were inducted in 2016 into the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Irish Music Hall of Fame for the Northeast US. They have appeared 9 times at the Rochester Irish Festival and are often found at Irish music sessions in the area.
