Program description: Prepare for takeoff as Central New York magician Ron Cain launches his new “Martian Magic Show” this summer! Ron appears as Cosmo the Conjuror, a Martian magician who travels the galaxy performing tricks and collecting stories. Naturally, he loves libraries and admires the 2019 New York state library summer reading program theme, “A Universe of Stories.” Throughout the 45-minute show, Cosmo demonstrates Martian powers like telepathy and psychokinesis. He tells tales and shares illusions picked up from visits to various planets. Volunteers help him rescue the Man in the Moon and have fun playing characters from Mercury, Venus & Pluto. Cosmo also teaches children facts about space travel and encourages them to explore the library’s “universe of stories." A former teacher and Syracuse University graduate, Ron specializes in educational magic for schools and libraries. Children participate in shows promoting reading, history, science and the environment. He also teaches magical workshops and classes on everything from Magic to Monsterology.
Space/special requirements: Ron brings his own sound system and performance table. He can perform anywhere, as long as there is room for the audience to sit in front of him. He usually needs access to an electrical outlet and a small table to put extra tricks on.
