Program name: Miles to Go: Songs, Stories & Insights From a Life in Music
Program category: Life Skills- Other
Music
Performing Arts- Storytelling
Program length: flexible
Audience level: Adult
Audience size: flexible
Program description: This entertaining and informative session includes the wisdom earned from hundreds of thousands of miles of life as a touring singer-songwriter and policy social worker. Lara will play songs from her recent recordings and walk us through a song’s journey from observation to poetry to recording. She will reflect about the creative process and the people, places and events that have inspired her, while answering our questions along the way. Lara’s themes span a broad range, including stories of misfits and underdogs, connection and courage, love and loss, hardship and hope, resilience and transformation – so most topics are fair game! (Note: This workshop can be adapted for a performing-musician audience, expanding to include music business & performance advice.)
