Program description: Concetta Abbate’s performance fuses smooth jazz vocals with strings. Songs are a mix of American Jazz Classics and newly composed pieces. This live show has been performed in venues diverse as the United Nations, NYU, The MTA Music Under New York Program, The Rubin Art Museum and Queens-Flushing Public Library. Concetta Abbate is a violinist, composer and teaching artist in New York City. After a childhood dedicated to classical training Concetta became interested in jazz. Her most recent album which explores themes of was released on Waterbug Records in February 2015. She was a visiting composer in residence at TAKT gallery in Berlin this past winter 2015. She is musical director of a one room schoolhouse in Brooklyn called Teacup Music and is currently pursuing graduate studies in Music and Music education at Columbia University.
