Music
Program length: 60 minutes

Program description: Enjoy a batch of Christmas carols and tunes. The concert features songs learned from parents and grandparents and includes songs from NY, Ireland, Wales, Scotland, England, French Canada, Italy, and tunes learned from Irish friends, all of which are featured on the CD “Winter Root.” Try this recipe for a holiday concert: combine a dash of flute, a pinch of penny whistle, a smidgen of bodhrán, and spice with guitar, frost with Celtic harp, add a generous portion of rich vocal harmonies and then let your spirits rise. The trio “Cuisle Mo Chroí” ( pronounced Cushla Ma Chree) is one of the premier folk ensembles in the Rochester NY area. All three women, Patricia Carey, Mary Lester, and Cathy McGrath were inducted in 2016 into the Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann Irish Music Hall of Fame for the Northeast US, have appeared nine times in the Rochester Irish Festival, have opened for Cherish the Ladies, are often found at Irish music sessions in the area, and have played together for 20 years at festivals, libraries, pubs, parties, and more. This program has been presented most recently in the Tiffany Mosaic Chapel in Clifton Springs, NY.
